OP ED. Babes in the Woods and Lifting the Veil

Taking into consideration that we are not unique, we really are, as Carl Sagan once said, made of star stuff.  It's likely that a few billion years ago, the Earth was formed by an accretion of matter from all over the place.  Part of that matter had all the molecular components used to form life—hydrogen, carbon and so forth.  Augmented with the right distance from the sun (say between Venus and Mars), the celestial crock pot stewed from the seasonal changes brought about by solar revolutions.  We know this as a fact, as astronomers in the present day can show us evidence of these celestial nurseries light years away.  Our world is still stewing; however, it's arguable that in spite of our accomplishments in technology, developments and so forth, we're still babes in the woods.  We still act emotionally across the globe without any considerations to the world and our fellow inhabitants.  A lot of people blamed industry and commerce.  I blame one simple concept to the demise of our current earth bound issues regarding human affairs and all the madness to follow:

Emotional arrogance.

What a short sited characteristic to exhibit.  We pigeon hole ourselves in specific ideologies with no real regard to alternative viewpoints.  We like to think we're smart, intelligent, but evidence denotes otherwise.

The discussion goes on and on, round and round.  Don't get me wrong about emotions—they're a necessary thing for us, but when emotions drive us to over assertive actions like killing, oppression, etc., the line gets crossed.  Resolution and understanding of diplomacy along with global characteristic that we are all human becomes trampled.  We truly are the architects of our problems and miseries.

The mythologist Joseph Campbell once stated something to the effect that the fruit from the tree of knowledge was/is an archetype for consciousness.  Perhaps it was and is, but it has over the eons come with a terrible price and/or side effect: short sighted emotional responses.  It has such a high potential to foster narrow mindedness and anger.

For the record I am no saint.  I am human and am blinded by emotional responses to situations like anyone else, but I am trying to lift the veil.
